Selling a car
How to prepare a vehicle history before selling
Before selling, organize service history, documents, costs and notification confirmations. This makes buyer conversations clearer and reduces post-sale confusion.
Prepare history for the buyer
Export the vehicle history or prepare a short summary: major repairs, regular maintenance, consumables, inspection date, OC insurance and current mileage.
- Do not hide important defects. History supports the conversation; it does not replace inspection or diagnostics.
- Separate private documents from files you want to show to a buyer.
Organize documents
Find the registration document, OC policy, service confirmations, larger repair invoices, documents for additional equipment and all keys before meeting a buyer.
- If attachments contain personal data, review them before sharing.
- Prepare a simple list of items transferred with the car.
After sale
Gov.pl indicates 30 calendar days for reporting vehicle sale. The Polish Financial Ombudsman also describes a 14-day deadline for notifying the insurer.
- Record the sale date and notification confirmations in VehKeep.
- Keep a copy of the contract and proof of notification sent to the office and insurer.
